byron was guilty of taking on illegal staff

They should have conducted proper checks when taking these people on.
But the didnt - probably deliberately - because they knew illegal workers could be employed for low wages, unfair conditions and would not be able to complain about anything because they were illegally enoloyed.
So the company made profits out of their employee's hard work then sold them down the river to avoid punishment.
