"they shouted Daesh, Daesh"

Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase meaning "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" and the proper name for the group called ISIS or ISIL by some, but no adherent of that group would ever use it, because in Arabic it's an insult. Indeed, Daesh themselves have reportedly said they will "cut out the tongue of anyone using it".

So any links between these animals and Daesh was probably all in their own heads.
