rubik kazan look a formidable opponent today coming off the back of a 3-0 win over slaven bolocs westam three days ago. the russian outfit are now well established in the ruski premier ligski having joined it for the first time in 2003. since then they have only gone on and won the flippin thing twice but also won the faski cup and been regulars in europe including a barca scalp along the way, quite an acheivement for a club only formed in nineteen fiddy eight.
Histoire:
FC Rubin Kazan was previously called "Iskra" from 1958 to 1964, and then "Rubin-TAN" from 1992 to 1993.

In the middle of the ruby-shaped crests heart is the Zilant dragon, a mythical creature considered to be the protector of Kazan. It is supposedly in flight symbolising their desire to reach new heights (unlike our lazy arsed canary sat on a massive pingpong ball) and spitting a flame that represents Rubin's burning passion. The colours are borrowed from the flag of Tatarstan, where a strong sense of nationalism remains: green represents revival (and Islam), white purity and red energy, maturity and life. The white stripe also signifies where east meets west.
Stadium:
When at home the Rubins trot out agaisnt their opponents at the rather splendid Rubindome, or Kazan arena as they insist on calling it User Posted Link it was built in 2013 at a cost of 450 million yankeydollers and will be one of the venues at the next Worldcupski and has a capacity of just over 45,000
Playas:
Alex Song, one time Westammer signed for the Rubiks from a spanish outfit called Barcelona but I don't think he has joined the team yet. Another Frenchy duder called Yann M'Vila once of Inter and Sunderroach fame also plays for them in the middle of the park.
