An eyewitness has told CNN has said the shooter shouted "Allahu Akbar" before opening fire.

She said she was certain he said the words as: "I know this because I am a Muslim."

The woman says she was sitting in a McDonald's restaurant across the road from the shopping centre, when she saw a man come out of a bathroom and begin shooting.

She said: "I came out of the toilet and I hear like an alarm, boom, boom, boom. He was killing the children. They were sitting to eat. They couldn't run."
