With McCormack, purchase price is the issue.
Proven scorer in Champs, 30 yrs old, we can reasonably expect to get one good season out of him, after that who knows, but he won't be getting any quicker or stronger etc. If he picks up an injury, he will recover more slowly than a 22 yr old. Resale value will probably be half of what we look likely to have to pay for him. I'd like to have him, for £8m I'd say yes, for £10m no thank you. Fulham are desperate to sell. We should be in no hurry, and pursue other options.
If we are going to spend big, then I think we should consider paying potentially even MORE for a really decent younger player who could perform for us season-after-next in the Premier League. A fully recovered Asambolonga could fit that bill. There are others out there, including loanee strikers from PL.
Lastly, I wonder if there is any chance of us re-signing Mbokani? There seems to be no news of his current whereabouts out there on the www. He'd have to take a big drop in wages. But he'd absolutely rip up the Championship.
