Historically they've taken the path of relatively swift restoration of democracy (albeit heavily influenced/gerrymandered by the military thereafter). Think there have been half a dozen or so in modern Turkish history.
Obviously not ideal to be overthrowing elected governments, but I suspect the world would be a safer place with the Turkish military in charge rather than Erdogan.
