I think he could do OK

surely the general standard of management in international football is consdierably lower than it is in the Prem, and he acquits himself pretty well there.

He can sort out a defence and he can get goals from set pieces and playing directly; that's pretty much how teams that don't have world class players reach the latter stages of tournaments.
