Realised, looking at Run Norwich website headphones are not permitted on the day.
Having never ever ran without music, thought I'd give a 10k (only my 2nd ever) without headphones a go, without music drowning out that little voice - it went something like this.....
1k - what the f**k are you doing, you old, overweight middle aged tw*t
2k - stop it, your legs hurt, what's the f-ing point of running anyway?
3k - people are looking, you're showing yourself up
4k - (zen like)
5k - (checks time) okay, slower than your ParkRun times, but it's not about time - it's about finishing
6k - f**k, ages to go let and this is a flat course, how the hell are you going to get up Rose Lane?
7k - left knee hurting, not going to stop though
8k - not going to stop, just finish - it's all about finishing - forget time
9k - I'm going to finish, i'm going to finish - don't care what time, finishing is the objective - you doing okay
10k - I f-ing did it, I bloody ran 10k without headphones - I will be able to complete Run Norwich - who cares how long it took
(checks time) - you absolute c*nt, what sort of time was that.
Conclusion - it's a lot easier with music
