I'm always suspicious about the EU as a corporate neoliberal stooge argument

Sure, it promotes free trade, but it also guarantees workers' rights and many other social protections. It's even quite protectionist in some ways - for example, the ports and railways directives protect state ownership of these services in numerous MS. The UK freely decided to sell off its public sector, the EU didn't force it to. It's certainly not as clear-cut as the left likes to imply.
