I'm absolutely adamant that I wouldn't have it - always too tight to select it.
My wife is the same and has the same view but thought she would just chance it with a company - nothing to lose.
So far she's got ?750 from a Debenhams card she had years ago. They'd only taken something like ?120 in total, but they have to pay compensation plus 8% interest each year, so it mounted up.
She's had notification from other financial companies of 'possible incorrect PPI charges' - including one from a mortgage she had before we got our joint mortgage - which, I would guess could be large based on the small amount she'd spent on the Debenhams card.
So I'm taking a punt too - like her, nothing to lose.
