display driver problems mostly, so had to connect the laptop to my big f**k off telly via

hdmi as the laptop screen just wasn;t showing anything

1st time that happened was after upgrading from windows 7 to 10

i fixed that be doing a fresh install of windows 10 on that machine, but within a couple of weeks got the same issue - managed to find a bit of a workaround though - without having to resort to plugging it into my telly
