Well that's why I said "if". Impossible to be certain.

However I struggle to see why it would ever have appeared if it wasn't true (it seems so barmy I can't imagine anyone making it up).
Arneson's denial is meaningless in this context - the quote looks like he's ridiculing a fellow professional and looks bad so even if it were true I would expect him to deny it.
