on the flip side, not giving people a say on Europe

has been a huge factor in British politics for so long that it would have been undemocratic to kick the can further down the road.

Should have had this debate ages ago and then either engaged properly with Europe as a leader, instead of fannying around on the sidelines, or come out far sooner.
