they made up 50% of the vote in the last election, and have been in government for nearly half of the last 40 years. They are a progressive socialist party - perhaps something akin to old labour (pre Blair) or the green party in the UK in terms of political position.
The difference in Spain is that the issue concerning the EU is primarily an economic one; whereas in the UK it has mostly become a debate about immigration. And from an economic viewpoint - the EU is not favourable towards the working classes.
