I don't know if it's English arrogance but

Those sort of numbers gathering and drinking in the streets of any city centre for 12 hours is probably never going to end well. It does not seem like there was really any violence of any significance and there are so many fans there they the numbers playing up are a minority bit clearly that many young blokes, on "holiday" at a tournament and getting completely wasted is going to see some misbehaviour.

Even as someone who loves his beer and football, particularly together, I'm not sure I could spend 12 hours in bars outside Lille station singing the same three or four songs over and over. That takes some serious stamina! Most of our fans are probably spread across the city having a good laugh and causing no problems.
