Always loved it when I've done it, as Worz says, once you meet people, you can end up

seeing and staying in places you'd never get to visit. There is an increasing amount of lone travellers of my age group and older, made some great friends over the years - that's where the sharing comes in.

Mrs mbk is less adventurous than me so I always manage to get away for a few days exploring on my own - great fun - highly recommended.
