Bit of both. I thought Sri Lanka bowled quite well, tied us down at key points and

batsmen got frustrated and got themselves out.

Hales played probably the most ridiculous shot you will ever see from an opener on the first morning of a test match after not scoring for 22 balls. he needs to learn to be more patient.

Compton is not good enough.

Vince looked good and then got himself out unexpectedly as he has done in all his innings so far.

Didn't see Cook or Ali's dismissals.

Root got a decent ball which he misjudged and swung a bit.

I read yesterday we've lost out first 4 (or possibly 5) wickets for under 100 runs now in 5 of our last 7 innings. Positions 2, 3 and 5 remain the big weakness in this England team and against better bowling attacks our middle order will not always get us out of the sh*t.
