The head of English fan policing was on R5 this morning. He'd been there for the incident

and he played it down. He said it looked more dramatic because the French police have a tactic of using water cannon to de-escalate situations.

No doubt there are idiots and thugs but I'm equally sure there are a number of innocent fans who get caught out because of the reputation of other fans that have gone before them.
