Clipping a chickens wings

If and when my wife goes full eco-bantz and installs hen's in the yard, how do I stop the t**ts wandering off and getting ete by a fox?

Questions:

1- How much wing do I cut off to limit their flight?

2- Can I use them 'pinking' shears to give the hens wings a mad shadow when they sit around s**tting eggs in the mid-day sun?
