Ok, so I'm trying to type on a new computer with Windows 10

only I can't because it is saying each section is locked. Is there a special 'unlock' button somewhere I've missed?

I've tried sniffing the usb and everything.

You need to do a smell. Not a sniff. Sniff and smell are two seperate kettles.
