Re taking power away - I guess fundamentally I see the EU as my government too, so I don't have any notion of losing sovereignty.

I don't have any qualms with Westminster taking power away from my local council (even though Westminster is far less democratic) so I don't have any particular issue with other powers being centralised at the EU level (which on a 'does my vote count' basis, is more democratic as my constituency is, and always will be, solid Tory so my vote doesn't count in any meaningful way, cf European elections where it actually counts for something).
