the depressing state of affairs for me

is how right wing politics is in Europe at the moment.

I favour staying in the EU right now, because it is left of the Tories and is acting as something of a handbrake on them. The depressing thing is that EU economic policy is still way to the right of what I would like, but it is the lesser of two evils for the forseeable future.
