to read all Shakespeare's stuff before I shuffle off etc., I started a couple of years ago. It took about a year.
Waste of time. You have to see the plays performed; it's the sound of the words more than any definitive meaning. That's why actors love him so much - they can interpret them in so many ways.
The sonnets you know are the good ones.
Some of it didn't make sense on any level. I am also convinced that the plays were written collectively - rather like the way an artist's studio used to work, where the apprentoids would fill in the background & leave the clever stuff to the master,
The good bits are f**king awesome though.
