English has evolved a lot since then.

I can't be doing with reading it, and I don't particularly like it when the actors play it up and get all pretentious with it/over dramatic.

But when it's done well, as though it's just someone talking normally in a natural voice, I quite like it and it's easier to follow. I'm sure I read somewhere that originally it'd have all sounded a bit West Country.
