Someone posted this on F365 yesterday re chase

"a relative of mine used to work at carrow road, in an "advisory" role under robert chase. i don`t know if you knew this but , do you remember when norwich suddenly sold jon newsome (sp.) to sheff weds? he was grabbed off the trng gnd and told to say goodbye and get his boots. chase had invested a lot of money in a dutch road building company, it went bust, dutch agents acting for the creditors wanted chase`s assets and turned up to close/repossess carrow rd!. the only thing that stopped them putting chains on the doors was the fact that norwich had a saleable asset, newsome. later that day a shaken ashen faced chase did a news conference and made up some tale about the player sale, (someone else was sold the next day, can`t recall his name) chase left norwich very shortly thereafter.

all this was hushed up and still isn`t general knowledge. ncfc came with 4 hours of being the next middlsboro or rangers.

don`t know if this explains the tight purse strings, but it was long before delia became involved."

Never heard that before - has anyone else?
