My point is that very, very few clubs have a first-team stuffed with products of their own Academy, and in the top flight that is a big, fat zero.

Let's say you were a teacher; could you predict with 100 percent accuracy which of your 14 yr-old pupils might get 1st Class degrees? And if that class of 30 was primarily made up of idiots, would any amount of teaching expertise make a massive change to the degree-tally?
