The fact is that he's done bugger all in the premiership for Spurs or for Newcastle, which is why Spurs let him go.
They were reportedly willing to ship him out for a lot less but accounting wanted to gain a reasonable % of his fee back and his wages were a massive sticking point.
hence why no one else was interested in a man who wasn't even remotely in Pocchetino's plans this season
