It takes schools away from Local Authority control.

Nothing wrong with academies if it's the right thing for the community. Schools had to consult in the past; not now. It doesn't raise standards either. Forcing schools to become academies is not a good thing. Worse still forcing them to join academy chains where they lose their identity. Most run by Tory acolytes too... No account has been taken of the cost and time involved in converting either. There's a great book by John Hattie called 'The politics of distraction'. Sums it up nicely.
