it just seems ridiculous that as little as one day -

perhaps even one hour - could be the difference between a six year prison sentence and something being legal. Something that would be legal anyway at younger ages in many other developed countries.

Not really sure what purpose such a prison sentence achieves; it seems its just down to the whims of a judge and depends on how much they want to impose their own concepts of morality.
