the thing makes me feel uneasy about the sentence

he's been found guilty based on an arbitary cut off. 16 years has been decided by some legislative in the UK, because its a nice round number and seems about appropriate. It's a six year sentence to have sexual relations with someone who has been alive for 5843 days, and perfectly legal to do the same thing with someone 5844 days. I'm not sure justice and the legal system should be as black and white as that.

Obviously it doesn't take into account that people develop differently, and some 14 year olds may be far more emotionally and physically developed than some 16 year olds.
