You're saying Wimbledon is not one 'event'?

I think you're trying to split hairs. It's multiple competitions within one overall event. Like the Olympics is one event comprising multple individual competitions.

It's simple - if they want to pay men more than women, disentangle the two competitions and run separate slams for men and women and let the market decide what each is worth. I don't think there'd be any particular issue with that.

But run a joint event and offer unequal prize money based on who does and doesn't have a dick? Jog on. Any justification of that is simply trying to justify sexism. Doesn't wash in the workplace, shouldn't wash on the sports field.

Separate men only slams won't happen because the PR backlash would be huge and you'd see a lot of the big name sponsors and tv broadcasters pull away from it. There is a reason the large slams pay the same prize money and that's public opinion and sponsor opinion. So like it or not the men need the women at the big slams to prop up their earnings just as much as the women's game needs the men's game for revenue.

In any event what Djokovich was really saying is that he wants Djokovich to earn more money. Not all of the male tennis players would bring in more TV viewers than the women so conflating the money generated by the current top men's player with an argument that men deserve more than women is a result is a very poor argument.
