Is a PayPal receipt proof of purchase?

I need to get my mobile sent off for repair. Carphone Warehouse require proof of purchase as I didn't buy it from them. Is a PayPal receipt for an eBay purchase acceptable?

Surely having the thing is proof of purchase. You've got the thing, you purchased it.
