The problem is we've gone beyond the human scale.

We rarely make things by hand any more. Everything is mass produced in industrial facilities and cakes are a good example of this. If I make a cheesecake I don't put palm oil in it, but I'm guessing that massive numbers of cheesecakes squeezed out of a machine won't work the same way or keep as long without it.
