I expected somewhere between 33 and 40.

And I don't expect the manager to come out in public and say anything other than what he did (especially here, where Hughton was always being slaughtered for allegedly negative comments in press conferences and AN had probably been told to always be positive). All interviews are PR exercises. Doesn't necessarily mean it's what he thinks in private (he might, we'll never know).
