If I knew them then this would be no problem. If I didn't know them but they came well recommended by people I'd trust, I'd probably agree. If I didn't know them and had never used them before I'd be cautious.

Do you have anything in writing from them - an estimate, that kind of thing? If so it should include a 14-day cooling off period. If not, they're probably not registered with Trading Standards. Again, not all good labourers are, but if I don't know someone that's something which helps give me confidence.
