the problem is that we tried to set up defensively in all of those games

and still conceded. Probably because it still wasn't defensive enough - we really need to pack the midfield and make teams work very hard to break us down. With a fairly defensive set-up like we played, you still end up conceding and then don't have enough going forward to score either.

We don't have the quality to only be fairly defensive. We really have to go all in with one style or the other. Given the profligacy of our forwards, defence is the obvious answer.
