you can - at least to a large extent. Managers like Pulis, Allardyce and Hughton have been doing it for years.

You just have to play much tighter to reduce the opportunities where a defender can make a mistake. Obviously there are drawbacks to these tactics as well, but it is an option that Neil hasn't explored effectively, and he probably should have given how poor we have been defensively.
