This season may be too much too soon, but after this season (if we fluke survival) or another season in the Champs, it may well not be too soon.

Would be galling to sack him, see him go to a decent Champs club, get them up, then excel in the Prem.

And he has shown that he is more than capable of doing a good job at Champs level - he has two promotions to top flight leagues under his belt. It's as much a risk to appoint someone else as it is to keep him.
