Very good post until you said it hinges on trade... We are massively net importers

From the EU.

They are not going to shut the borders for trade with us. We are too important to them for sales of cars, wine, food etc that we bring in. Their purchases of our goods is o lay half our exports. We could make links with other countries if we are to concentrate on exporting...which the UK is inherently not competitive at anyway due to NMW, CoPs etc.
