Definitely agree that UK needs Europe more than the other way around

but I think the UK economy is strong enough to go it alone in the short-medium term. Just the population and money in the country makes it able to somewhat hold its own and continue to attract service and technology industries. Although long-term, the lack of influence in Europe will be costly.

Most EU countries would suffer a lot more in the short term if they left. Eurosceptic countries like Hungary and Slovakia don't have the size of the economy to go it alone. Which is why they won't leave. And why Britain leaving the EU won't result in some big European wide shake-up - it will just result in Britain being marginalised in the long term.
