The myth of becoming established in the Prem

This follows on a little bit from my post yesterday and the discussion below.

In reality there are only 7 established clubs in the Prem - Liverpool, Man U, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Man City.

There was an 8th - Villa - but even they are going down this year after 28 seasons.

Everyone else has been relegated at least once in the last 10 years. In fact, the longest established team, Sunderland, have flirted with relegation for several years and might go down this year.

Again it come back to expectations. We might have a good season and a cup run but we will also always have seasons of struggle. That is irrespective of whether we sell out to a rich backer or not.
