There was simply no point in playing him up front against the bottom side when AN bottled having a winger (or even two) such as Jarvis, Brady or Redmond, who might just have been able to get in a cross or two for Mbokani to feed off against a defence almost as bad as ours (and he is very strong in the air). That he did that while playing two midfielders out of their normal positions in the wide roles just exacerbates the sense that it is all just a bit muddled. Maybe the fact that players like Afobe didn't want to come has as much to do with the way they think we will play. Instead we end up having to go for players that don't fit the game we do.
