defence was shocking

although the defence was shambolic usa didn't really have the quality to do much about it.

johnson and brown were the worst two - i've never rated brown. at best he's an adequate right back but he's nowhere near an international centre half. and johnson is an average prem right back, and a total tosspot to boot.

i agree that greeno has made some shockers - i actually think goalkeepers thrive on having more to do. people always go on about how the best keepers are the ones who have bugger all to do and then pull out a top save (ie. cech for chelsea). the more you have to do, the more you get your eye in, although i guess it also increases the chances of a howler, statistically speaking.

as for our friend from across the pond, i do seem to remember him coming up with some crazy formations and team selections before - he clearly hasn't got a clue. no more of a clue than i would have about american football beyond the rudimentary rules of the game i've gleaned from watching sky. that's the only point i was trying to make.
