What I'm hoping from him - and his post match comments suggest he might offer it - is that he becomes Neil's on-pitch assistant, the guy who has the experience, the nous, and the on-pitch gravitas to really pull this group of players into a successful team.
He knows the score, what a good premiership team needs to do to survive, so I'm hoping that he can share that knowledge and get our lot playing like a team that knows how to survive.
Heck, he may even have one or two tips that he can give to Neil that he has learned from Martinez and how Everton do things.
The likes of Klose, Pinto and Bamford are all important in terms of the improvement they offer, but the potential for Naismith to really make a difference above-and-beyond simple ability in his role (which should be a given for a new signing at this level) is what has me looking forward to the next few weeks.
