Doubts Over Danns Future

Star midfielder Neil Danns' agent has confirmed the U's player has rejected a new contract and that Championship runaway leaders Reading are interested in signing him.
It's midway through one of the most hectic weeks in midfielder Neil Danns' life, and it promises to get busier over the coming weeks as speculation mounts as to whether he will remain at the club beyond January or come the end of the season, after rejecting the U's first offer of a contract.
After becoming a father for the first time with the birth of a son, Jayden, on Monday, Danns returned to Colchester to score twice as the U's disposed of Bristol City 3-2 at Layer Road. Now his agent has confirmed Danns has rejected the offer of a contract extension.
Speaking on www.skysports.com/football, Tony Finnigan went on record to state "We know several clubs are very interested in Neil,
"We can confirm that Neil has rejected the offer of a new contract and is now considering his options.
"But as he proved on Tuesday night with his spectacular display - he is fully committed to Colchester and will always give 100 percent whilst he is there. v"I can also confirm that some of my former managers, including Steve Coppell, have shown a strong interest in Neil."
However Danns himself moved to ease Colchester fans' minds about a possible switch, and it would appear he will be here until the end of the season, unless the club accept a bid. Speaking in the Evening Gazette, and on www.cu-fc.com, the 23 year old former Blackburn midfielder commented; "The birth of my first son, and then two goals means it's been one of the best 24 hours of my life!
"Every player wants to progress, but who is to say that can't be with Colchester United. Promotion to the Championship and the next level is not just a dream any more. We've got some real quality in the side and I really am loving it here? while some people might see (Colchester) as a launch pad, I think of it as more than that now.
"We want to keep winning games for Colchester United because we are going places."
