I guess, yeah. Personally, I would go for feel over sound

as the right sound can be generated with pedals and units (providing it doesn't sound horrible). With feel, there's not loads you can do to change a guitar that plays awful, bar having the thing re-set up, mucking about with bridges, changing frets etc.

Saying that, I play predominantly acoustic so a good sounding guitar, bouzouki, banjo etc is important then. I feel less so with an electric.

All personal opinions I suppose. I know loads of guys in Death metal bands who buy weird shaped guitars because they look the part but play like s**t. They just bumble through as it's about the look. I've done that before, never again.
