My wife's mum is a carer who has 3 ladies with learning difficulties living with them,

Full time, 24hrs a day.

Two of them have lived at home with them for 12 years, the other for a year (they've always had 3 but one had to go for "specialist care" due to dementure).

Having seen at close hand the kind of things that carers go through and the difficulty of the work, it's a crime what they get paid and they way in which they are treated by local councils/govt.

It's an even bigger crime what has been going on in the last 5years under the Tory govt. The girls that live with the wife's mum are essentially having all forms of mental and physical stimulation stripped from them, leaving them nowhere to go but home. As a result they're losing entitlements now so my wife's mum is no going out of pocket to help provide some kind of way of getting them out and keeping them from rotting their minds away in front of TV. They're essentially being stripped of a normal life (relatively speaking) and being stripped of all dignity that they built up before.

Not to mention that with the increased time spent at home, my wife's mum is not getting paid for those hours when she should be.

I've got total respect for people like you Proth. Must be a job that's getting harder by the day in the current times.
