Does anyone else feel that Mbokani is not suited to the lone striker role?

I mean he's got a great touch, holds the ball up and makes some good passes and layoffs but to me I feel he's wasted up on his own.

He's forever dropping off to pick up the ball (which maybe is a deliberate thing to bring our wide men into play) but he doesn't seem to have a lot of pace to get forward after he's laid it off. He's been a real danger when he's ran in behind the centre backs to head/poke in a cross but apart from that he doesn't feel like too much of a threat at the moment.

Personally I think he'd do far better with another forward to play off. Like most of our forwards, he gets isolated up front on his own for large periods of the game and would probably benefit from the help.

It's hard to tell though if it's just him or more of a problem with the system. Whilst we have a bit of pace in the wide areas, everything just feels a little slow and predictable at the moment. The wide players get down the wings but then check back to try and turn the defender instead of pinging a ball into the box, thus slowing our attack and giving the forwards a much harder job. Look at Mbokani's goals, mostly from first time balls into the box as he gets in between the defenders. We don't get enough balls in to him and they don't come in quick enough for me.
