I understand that point, you don't want players playing if they aren't up to it

but why do people seem so keen to forget and move on from previous players, have the "f**k em" attitude despite having supported said player for 5,6,7,8 years?

Surely you want to have some kind of affinity with the players you are supporting? Otherwise what's the point?
