I saw him at the Roundhouse in 1969. He was performing solo to a recorded sound track,

doing weird, mimey stuff. Very odd (but the whole Roundhouse scene was like that then) but mesmerising. After that, the showman side took over and clouded my view of his music, but the last albums are very moving, for someone a few years younger than him.
